Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita is an umbrella term that describes up to 400+ different conditions.
The name describes the presence of multiple joint contractures at birth. A contracture is a limitation in the range of motion of a joint. It is a non-progressive disorder, meaning children do not get worse over time.
